STATUS FLASH
Project Status as of:

Overview:
The widening of Kingsride Lane by adding a 300 ft. right turn lane at the Gessner intersection is nearly complete.  The contractor, Cravens Partners, is communicating with the City of Houston about transferring service to the newly installed water line before it can complete the corner at the Gessner intersection.
Upcoming Tasks July 21-25, 2008:

On Wednesday, the contractor and the City of Houston Public Works Department will meet to discuss the options of shifting from the old water line to the newly installed water line without interrupting service to the mall and the hospital.  Once the new line is in operation the contractor can finish the final portion of the project and open the new right turn lane to traffic.

STATUS FLASH
Project Status as of:
Monday, May 19, 2008
Accomplishments:
Construction on Kingsride Lane is inching toward to the Gessner Road intersection.  This week crews with Cravens Partners re-opened the new entrance/exit driveway to the commercial parking lot.  The Sterling Bank driveway was taken out of service so the new right turn lane could be built.  Bank traffic has been temporarily detoured to the new commercial parking lot driveway.  A live oak tree between the two driveways has been removed because it stood in the way of the new water line.  Another live oak of the same size will be planted nearby.
Upcoming Tasks:
The upcoming tasks for the week of May 19-23 include installing the water line, rebuild the bank driveway, and finish paving the right turn lane to the Gessner intersection.  The old traffic signal box at the intersection will be removed and the lights on the new traffic signal pole will be connected and ready for activation.

Accomplishments:
Progress on Kingsride Lane is moving quickly.  Crews with Cravens Partners have poured most of the new right turn lane and this week they rebuilt a driveway entrance/exit into the commercial parking lot.  They have also installed 3/4th of a new waterline that will eventually tie into an existing one at Gessner.
Upcoming Tasks:

The tasks for the week of April 12-16th include removing the driveway exit from Sterling Bank onto Kingsride to allow crews to advance the new right turn lane.  Bank traffic will exit onto Kingsride from the newly paved commercial driveway.  Inspectors will consult with the City of Houston about the fate of a medium size tree which is in the path of the new right turn lane.  Cravens is also waiting for the traffic signal box to be removed to allow crews to begin working at the corner of Kingsride at Gessner.

STATUS FLASH
Project Status as of:
Monday, April 21, 2008
Accomplishments:
The task to add a 300 ft. right turn lane on Kingsride at Gessner is progressing rapidly.  This week construction crews sculpted a new curb, poured a new driveway for the shopping center parking lot and made preparations for paving some parts of the new turn lane. The tall shopping center sign has been temporarily removed.  It will be reinstalled just south of its original location to make room for a new sidewalk.  The corner of Kingsride at Gessner is in the process of being demolished so workers can begin cutting out the new turn lane.  Crews are also in the process of installing the new traffic signal pole and mast arm.
Upcoming Tasks:
For the week of April 21-25, Cravens Construction expects to begin pouring concrete in some areas of the new right turn lane.  In addition, the contractor anticipates completing the shopping center parking lot, possibly reinstalling the shopping center sign and replacing the signal controller box.
